I'm a sucker for flowers and I love to educate myself so I try to slip in a floral design class or two each spring. This year I'm on vacation during most of the classes, so I thought if I can't be attending, why not you!?
Local Flower Hours | May 16th | $25 - $95
I featured Taproot back around Valentine's Day because I was excited about the discovery of a local florist that specialized in local flowers. Since then, Rachel the owner and lead designer of Taproot and I have had coffee together. We chatted about everything from our neighborhood, working out, to weddings and being small business owners, and of course flowers. Rachel had the great idea of offering classes that are very accessible starting at $25 for local flower hours, which is an informal floral arranging class that allows us to play with flowers at a reasonable price. For more information regarding pricing and the other classes offered, check out their page.
STARLING ON BOND
Spring Time Centerpiece Workshop | May 17 | $149
Starling on Bond is Brooklyn based bespoke event design studio specializing in creating experiences which are beautiful and purposeful. Their taste level is high and their skill set vast, making this class a sure bet to be a well rounded experience. The best part in my opinion, is the styled vignette and edited photographs of your finished work that are included in the experience. Because not only is the process of learning important, but also the documentation of your creation!
NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN
Classes starting at $80
With a whole slew of classes available from focusing on Peonies, Dutch style bouquets to large scale arrangements the NYBG offers a number of classes that all sound fun and interesting. Luckily, these classes run on a repeating calendar, so if you miss it the first time around there is at least a second opportunity. Which is probably what I'll be doing when I return from our trip.
