Okay all, I will quit it with the new year healthy posts right after this one. Today is the day that I completed my fast, I'm down a total of 5.6 lbs and 1/2" on my waist and hips (I know most of that is water weight) but it feels really good to see a change on the scale. It's encouraging. I also feel really good. I didn't consume any dairy, sugar, carbs or coffee for the last 3 days and I know that had something to do with how I'm feeling. To make sure I continue to lose I have resolved to make a few changes in my diet for the new year. These are things that I think everyone can include in their lives for the upcoming year also.
EAT SMALLER PORTIONS
I realized with the food I was eating that I don't have to consume as large as portions as I have been. It's amazing how far your groceries go when you scale down your portion sizes!
CREATE WEEKLY MEAL PLANS
Following the fast led me to follow a plan. I tend to stick to plans and keep my goals in order if I'm following an outline of sorts. The hardest part for me is going to sit down to take the time to write it out - but it may become a Sunday morning ritual before I run to the grocery store.
DRINK MORE WATER
It is recommended that we drink 8 glasses of water a day. What is that amount exactly? 64 fl oz. - seems like a lot but it really isn't. It's a half gallon of water. To make my life easier I purchased this water bottle from Amazon that is exactly 64 fl oz. If you buy one for home and the office you won't have to carry it around with you. I would recommend drinking from a glass container but if you're starting out and want to make sure you're getting enough water, this bottle should be more than helpful.
I'm curious if anyone has an easy suggestions for diet changes ? I'd love to hear them.
Side note: I'm starting to brush up on my sketching skills. It's been years since I've done any drawing for drawing's sake. So the water bottle is one of those. I plan to put more on the blog as I continue to post this year.
