I think we can all remember the article in Elle Decor featuring the home of Barnaba Fornasetti in Milan, Italy. Originally published in Elle Decor India, in the States we saw it in the "Best Of" issue. (More images of the home at the end of this post.)
After seeing that article and drooling once again over Fornasetti designs, you could imagine how happy I was to hear from my company's Cole & Son rep. We met to have a first hand look at the collection of wallpapers for Fornasetti. The new motifs are just as whimsical and fun as the their classics complete with monkeys, fish, owls and antique flying machines. The collection debuted to the public at Maison&Objet in Paris last month. Barnaba Fornasetti told Dezeen in an exclusive interview about that collection, "I was thinking of doing something a little more than a normal wallpaper, to give the opportunity to have something to stick on the wall with some more fantasy."
"So I decided to do vertical rolls and horizontal rolls, and rolls that can be combined together. For example, we have the clouds that can be combined with balustrades and flying machines. You can choose to make only clouds with the balustrade or only a piece of the flying machine with clouds."
I love that these patterns can be mixed and matched. Now I'm left struggling with how soon and where I can use some of these papers. My most favorite has to be the antique flying machines - hello, wedding!
Thanks for reading. My best, Lauren
